Accessibility Statement
Last updated: May 5, 2025
Converso Inc. is committed to ensuring that our website and digital content are accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard and comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Accessible Canada Act.
Our Commitment
Accessibility is not an afterthought for Converso — it is core to who we are. Our business exists to help organizations reach every member of their community, including seniors, people with disabilities, and others who may face barriers to traditional digital engagement. We apply the same principle to our own website.
We aim to ensure that converso.co is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users, in accordance with the four principles of WCAG 2.1.
Accessibility Features of This Website
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
- Skip navigation: A "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation.
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy (h1–h4), landmark roles (banner, main, navigation, footer), and ARIA attributes throughout.
- Keyboard navigability: All interactive elements — navigation menus, forms, buttons, and links — are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
- ARIA labels: Icon-only buttons and interactive controls include descriptive aria-label attributes. Decorative images include aria-hidden="true". Informative images include descriptive alt text.
- Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Resizable text: Page layouts are fluid and remain usable when text is resized up to 200% in the browser.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus states are maintained on all focusable elements.
- Forms: All form fields include associated labels. Required fields are identified programmatically. Error messages are descriptive and linked to the relevant field.
- Responsive design: The website is fully functional on mobile devices and adapts to a range of screen sizes and orientations.
- No time limits: We do not impose session timeouts on website visitors.
- No flashing content: This website does not contain content that flashes more than three times per second.
AODA Compliance
As an Ontario-based organization providing services to public institutions and other entities subject to AODA, Converso is committed to compliance with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) under AODA, including the Information and Communications Standard.
We also provide accessible formats and communications supports to clients and members of the public upon request. If you require information from us in an accessible format, please contact us using the details below.
Known Limitations
We are continuously working to improve accessibility across our website. While we aim for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, some areas may not yet fully meet this standard:
- Some older PDF documents linked from this website may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these or provide accessible alternatives.
- Third-party embedded content may not meet the same accessibility standards as our own pages.
Accessibility in Our Services
Accessibility is built into our core service model. Telephone town halls are inherently accessible to participants who cannot use web-based platforms — reaching seniors, people with low digital literacy, and individuals in areas with limited internet access. Our outreach platform supports TTY/TDD-compatible lines upon request.
Our team works with clients to ensure that participation instructions, meeting agendas, and post-event materials are available in accessible formats as required by applicable accessibility legislation.
Feedback and Contact
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter a barrier, cannot access content, or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know. We are committed to reviewing and responding to accessibility feedback promptly.
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve accessibility issues within a reasonable timeframe.
